[Tutorial] How To Add Motion Blur in Blender?
Motion blur effect, as a terminology, holds great significance in multiple industrial uses. From filmmaking to basic photography, the motion blur effect is consumed as a reality-setting standard, which defines its significance. Many platforms are providing this effect to enhance the creativity of their users. Blender is also known among these software providing such services while designing animations.
We will target a comprehensive guide on adding motion blur in Blender using the right way. Therefore, if you seek the appropriate way of adding motion blur in Blender, the following description is for you.
Part 1: What is Blender?
As we start our discussion, we will review Blender as a free and open-source software. Following this, we will continue realizing the benefits of adding motion blur through Blender:
Introduction to Blender
For those unaware of Blender, it is an open-source, free creativity software. You can find it as the perfect designing platform for your 3D content. This software has made itself accessible to the market with ease. This has made it quite famous among professionals, and is recommended for its high-quality, feature-rich design. From modeling to sculpting, Blender provides some great options to work with.
If you are up for editing some videos through Blender, it offers a great course of features, including motion blur. This Blender motion blur tutorial intends to bring you a similar insight into this great software. This will help you know the procedure of executing such facets to perfection.
Benefits of Using Motion Blur Effect
There are many benefits of using the motion blur effect in creative work. The following points are the highlights and benefits of adding the motion blur effect:
· Perfect For Idolizing Speed
The use of the motion blur effect is the best way to show the speed of the object. Using such effects gives the viewer an experience of the swiftness that is contained in the object.
· Resolves Flickering
Rather than trying out fast motion, you can add such effects to your 3D content to enhance the motion blur. This also helps get over problems, including strobing and flickering clips.
· Attenuates Real-Effect
One great thing about our human eye is its ability to bring motion blur in fast-moving objects. Since this is a real-life experience, the motion blur effect highlights this particular effect and brings the edited content closer to reality.
Part 2: How Do You Motion Blur An Object in Blender?
As stated before, Blender can be a great option for adding motion blur to objects. Many properties are involved in setting up the motion blur effect on an object. It includes defining the position, shutter, separation, and several other parameters. In this part, we will be looking for a guide on how to add motion blur in Blender:
Step1 With the video opened on Blender, proceed to the “Render Properties.” Look to enable “Motion Blur” from the available options. Click on the arrowhead adjacent to it to access its advanced blur options.
Step2 Start by setting its “Position” in the start, center, or end, according to the requirements. For those who are not sure of it, they can use “Center on Frame.” If the objects rapidly move in the video, reduce the “Shutter” value or vice versa.
Step3 Following this, define the “Background Separation” according to how you require the foreground and background. Next, you will have to increase or decrease the “Max Blur” pixels to define the blur intensity in the video.
Step4 For objects with complex topology, you might have to increase the “Steps,” hence the “Shutter” time. For simple objects, the value remains unity. To apply the motion blur effect, use the F12 key for rendering the video.

Make Eye Zoom Transition Effect with Filmora
What is an eye zoom transition effect? It’s a close-up video effect allowing viewers to transit to the next clip from the eye. This effect is commonly used by musicians and travel bloggers to give their videos a more cinematic feel. So, without wasting time, let’s learn how to create an eye zoom transition with Wondershare Filmora .
Free Download For Win 7 or later(64-bit)
Free Download For macOS 10.14 or later
Preparation:
First, you need to create a close-up eye video. Although you can do that with your digital camera, a standard smartphone should do it just fine. Just ask a friend or family member to use your phone’s rear camera to record your eye centered on the screen. Ensure that the eye is as close as possible and you don’t lose focus. The camera should be around 10cm away from your face. And lest I forget, the flash should be ON.
How to Create an Eye-zoom Transition
Step 1 Align the video clips on Filmora
After recording a close-up eye video, add it on Wondershare Filmora and duplicate it. Alternatively, you can add the video to the first and second tracks.
Step 2 Add a freeze frame to the video
Next, we want to add a freeze frame to the section where the eye opens fully. To do that, select the second video track and place the playhead where the eye is fully open. After that, right-click the video track, then choose the Add Freeze Frame option.
Now trim the first video track from where the freeze frame starts on the second video. Also, cut the second video track to leave only the freeze frame
Step 3 Add a masking effect to the eye
With the two video tracks ready, it’s time to apply a masking effect. Tap the Effect tab on the top menu bar and then find the Shape Mask under the utility section. Now drag and drop the effect to the freeze frame.
Double-click on the freeze frame clip to adjust the Shape Mask on the preview screen. Ensure the mask reveals the eye pupil only and check the Invert Mask box. Also, set the Feather number to 10.
Step 4 Add the transition video
Next, add the video you want to edit with an eye-zoom effect next to the first video track. Preview the video, and you’ll notice your new video playing inside the eye mask.
With that done, move the playhead to the start of the freeze frame video and double-click the video clip to launch the settings window. Click the Animation tab before clicking Customize to see the keyframe settings. Tap the Add button to add a keyframe. Then, add a few frames using the playhead before clicking Add. But because we’re zooming in, increase the scale to 160%. You can also add the rotation and position.
After setting the second keyframe, move the playhead to the right and add the third keyframe. This time, increase the scale number to 400%, as well as the rotation and position. Now preview the video, and you’ll notice the rotating eye-zoom effect.

Step1 Download and install Wondershare Filmora on your PC or Mac.
Step2 Launch Wondershare Filmora, import the video clip into Filmora and place it on the first track.
Step3 Find a frame with an empty background, i.e., without the subject, and freeze the frame.
Step4 Extend the frozen frame and cut out the rest of the video.
Step5 We are done with the first track so lock it.
Step6 Import the clip again on the second track. And find the sections of the clips where the subject is walking in the video. Cut the remaining part.
Step7 It will create several small sections on the second track.
Step8 Put the first clip at the start of the timeline and move the playhead to find the frame containing enough room for the second outfit.
Step9 Move the second outfit to that playhead area.
Step10 Double-click on the clip, go to effects, and choose a single-line mask.
Step11 Drag the mask to the point where it shows the outfit on its right side.
Step12 Blur the mask edges by increasing blur numbers.
Step13 Click on the add button to add a mask keyframe and move the play head forward until the first outfit leaves the frame.
Step14 Move the mask to the left to reveal the entire frame, and repeat the same process with all outfits.
Step15 After finishing all outfits, copy the clip from the first outfit. And paste it on top of all the tracks after the last outfit. And add a mask keyframe to this section too.
Step16 Unlock the first track and move the playhead to find the point where the subject with 4th outfit moves out of the frame. Then, cut the remaining part of the freeze frame on the right.
Step17 Now move the playhead to the first frame and find where it coincides with the last part of the final frame. Cut the previous piece.
Post it on Instagram, and it will keep playing automatically and act like a loop video. Otherwise, duplicate this edited clip several times to create a longer loop video. Background music plays a vital role in these videos, setting the tone and pace. Follow all the steps in the correct order. Then, create and post loop videos on your social media platforms.
