Planning and Storyboarding Is the Most Important Part of Creating a Music Video. Here Are some Easy Tips for Planning and Storyboarding a Music Video in Filmora

Do you want to bring your music to life on the big screen? Do you want to create something visually striking? Making a music video seems like a big task. Sometimes, the artist you’re working with might not have a clear idea for their music video. It’s your job to help guide the creative process.

But don’t worry! This guide is going to make it easy for you to plan and storyboard your music video step by step with the help of Filmora . So let’s get started and make an amazing music video together!

Plan and develop initial ideas

The first and essential step in creating a music video is planning. This is where you will lay the foundation of your music video. You need to figure out what your video is about and what you want to convey to the audience. It involves a concept or theme for the video, research, and reference material. You can also explore different ideas to make your video unique and engaging.

Step1Research and gather information

You can begin by researching and gathering information from other music videos. This will help you to know what has been done before and what is currently popular. You can also figure out how you can do it differently.

Step2Brainstorm and concept development

Once you understand the current trends and styles in the music video. It’s time to start brainstorming ideas. You can do it alone or with the help of your team. But remember that you have to think out of the box to make it creative.

Step3Consider the lyrics and message

In the planning stage, it is also important to consider the lyrics and message of the song. It would be best if you plan according to the feel and vibe of the song. It will help you to create a concept tied to the song and will help enhance its meaning.

Step4Experiment and find the right direction

Once you have a general concept, it’s time to develop it further. You can do it by creating rough sketches or storyboards. You can also film test footage to see how the concept will look on screen.

Step5Effort and attention to detail

Remember, this step is the foundation of your music video. So, take your time and don’t rush through it. By putting in effort and attention to detail, you’ll be able to create a visually stunning and closely tied to the song’s music video.

Choose a style for your music video

While creating ideas for the music video, it’s also important to consider the style of the music video. There are two main styles of music videos:

types of music video style

1.Performance-style music video

If you want to showcase energy and charisma in your music video, go for a performance-style music video. This video style focuses on you and your band performing live in front of an audience. You can shoot a video in a single take with minimal cuts or feature different angles and shots. The key is to capture the raw energy and emotion of the performance.

2.Narrative-style music video

A narrative-style music video tells a story or conveys a message along with the music. The story can be a visual representation of the lyrics or a multi-layered narrative. You can choose this style to convey a deeper message or story.

You can shoot this video in different locations and can include different scenes. The main motive is to create a video that emotionally connects with the audience.

Once you have an idea of what you want your music video to be about, you can put together a treatment to show the artist what your initial plan for the music video is.

treatment of the plan

If the artist approves the direction of the video, it’s time to move on to storyboarding!

Storyboard your music video

Once you are done with the style and concept of the video, the next step is storyboarding! It allows you to break down your music video visually and highlight key visual moments. It can save time and money and convey a clear idea to the team. You can do this on paper, a computer, or a tablet, whatever works best for you. Let’s see how to do it with the help of Filmora .

Practical Way to Resize Video in Handbrake

Videos are a great medium to share thoughts, concepts, guides, and memories, but regardless of how far technology has come getting them online can pose an issue sometimes. These obstacles often tend to be because either a video clip is too long or the amount of data in it is so high that the service just cannot upload the file to its servers and make it available for the intended receiver.

To solve this issue, users often need to resize a video so that the data cap, which behaved as a restriction, is no longer applicable. Now, there exist multiple software that can do this, and most video editor programs include the ability to export videos in less data-hungry sizes or formats.

So, if you ever face a similar issue, here is a guide on how you can resize videos via Handbrake and Wondershare Filmora. The former is a lightweight tool perfect for batch resizing videos, while the latter is a powerful free video editing software.

How to resize video with Handbrake

Open Handbrake and follow the steps listed below.

Once open, the software will present you with options to either import a single video file for resize or a whole batch via folder selection.

Note: If you do not have Handbrake, you can download it by visiting the official website. Also, you will need Windows .NET Framework 6.0 to use Handbrake. If your system does not have the correct config Handbrake will let you know and fail to launch.

Once you have imported the video file, the software will present you with two choices.

  • Option 1: Use a preset available in the application — the best choice for beginners to choose for beginners.
  • Option 2: Set a custom resolution via the Dimensions Tab.

Note: To ensure the resize is perfect, find out which file format plays best with the end location of your video and convert the video clip to that version.

This Article Aims to Show You How to Improve Your Lighting in the Sun

Shooting outdoors is a challenge in most situations. We have to deal with the sun being overexposed or the background is too dark.

In this article, we’ll show you how to light with the sun the easiest way. These simple and effective tips can help you block the harsh sun and make it to your advantage!

1) Preparation

You may need those things to film under the harsh sun:

  1. An ND filter for your lens
  2. A flag to block the sun. It can be anything like a black poster.
  3. A white poster to bounce the sunlight.
  4. Artificial light equipment.

Now let’s see when and how to use them against the strong sunlight!

2) Direct to the Sun

If we want a specific background for our shot but our talent has to face the sun, here are some tips you can do to undermine the unflattering light or the blindness.

1. Pick up an ND filter on your lens

pick up an nd filter on lens

We use it outside so we can open our aperture to get nice blurry backgrounds without overexposing our footage.

2. Use a “flag” to block or shape the sunlight

black flag

Using a black piece of poster board works perfectly fine, hold it up to the sun. Also, remember to angle your “flag” to create harsh lines or fully shade your talent.

3. Adjust your camera to fit the environment

For example, you can change the exposure of your camera to match the talent’s face giving a more silhouette look.

3) Back to the Sun

Have you ever been filming outside only to see your talent dark in the frame with the background blown out with light? To fix the problem, the simplest way is to use a “bounce”.

By using a “bounce”, we can reflect the light from the sun to our talent. Make sure to lift the bounce and move it around to get the right amount of light on your talent.

This should give us a nice look with the sun backlighting our subject and the bounce filling in the shadows and giving us soft light on our talent’s face!

4) Artificial lighting

If we want to control our lighting better, we will want to use artificial lights in combination with the sun.

For example, weather changes. As you shot, the sun will move and make lighting challenging to keep consistent.

In that case, we can use the flag technique that we used before to block the harsh sunlight and then use our lights on our talent’s face, this keeps our lighting more consistent than if we relied on just the natural light.

Now, take a look at the comparison with all the lighting conditions we create:

  1. Flag VS Flag & Light

flag vs flag light

  1. Backlight VS Backlight & Bounce

backlight vs backlight bounce

Summary

If you shoot or film outdoors, you must learn how to cope with the unsteady natural light. Hope this article helps you with that and kindly leave your thoughts below.

Complete Guide to Change Video Resolution in Filmora

With the vast number of devices available in the market today, storing data and video files has become difficult. Frequently in cases where the devices share different forms of resolution, it makes sharing videos a hassle.

In those situations, changing the resolution of your video can be a great idea. It will also allow you to save storage. In this article, you’ll adjust the resolution in just a few clicks by Wondershare Filmora. But before we learn how to change a video’s resolution, let’s look into what a video resolution is!

Part 1. What Is a Video Resolution?

A video resolution, in short, is the quality of the video visible. A video is rendered at a specific rate whenever you watch a movie or go to a cinema. A screen is made up of tiny pixels and arranged in an order that determines the resolution of a screen.

Video resolution is rendered in a vertical and horizontal orientation. Therefore, whenever you play a video on YouTube, the resolution scale is available for you to choose from, i.e., 480p, 720p, 1080p, etc.

In most cases, a resolution is dictated by the full abbreviation. So, for example, a 720p video is 1280 x 720, and a 1080p video is a 1920 x 1080 resolution.

a video resolution dimensions

Note: The number written before is the number of horizontal pixels in a video. And the number written after is the vertical pixels in a video.

Before we adjust the resolution of a video, let’s look at a comparison between different types of video resolution.

Part 2. 7 Different Types of Video Resolution

It has been established that a video resolution is not a constant number and changes according to the screen. Scroll below to look at the different forms of video resolutions available!

360p

The full resolution is 480 x 360. This resolution is a minimal video resolution. On a big screen, 360p will look blurry. That is why a 360p resolution is the best for smaller devices such as Mobile phones.

480p

The full resolution is 853 x 480. Although an upgrade from the latter, this resolution is available on many devices. It’s mainly used in devices such as smaller TVs, laptops, and Desktop computers. It is also available for Burn-in DVDs.

720p

The full version of the resolution is 1280 x 720. This resolution is called HD, short for High Definition. 720p quality looks good almost on every device and is also reasonably available.
